The Clean City Initiative was launched by Rotary Club of Usilampatti in partnership with local municipalities and volunteers. The project focused on three major areas — waste collection, plastic-free awareness, and planting drives.
Over 200 volunteers participated across 3 weekends, collecting more than 2 tonnes of solid waste from roads, markets, and water bodies. Awareness sessions were conducted in 5 schools reaching over 800 students.
The initiative also distributed 500 reusable cloth bags to local vendors as part of our plastic-free campaign. Tree plantation drives were held at 4 public parks adding 150 saplings to the green cover of the town.
🎯 Outcome & Impact
Collected 2 tonnes of waste, planted 150 trees, distributed 500 cloth bags, conducted awareness sessions in 5 schools reaching 800+ students. Plastic usage reduced by 40% in target market areas.
